Chennai: Two contract workers were electrocuted after the iron rods they were carrying came into contact with a live wire inside a private company near SRF Road in Manali on Saturday. According to Manali police, the deceased were identified as Sakthivel, 2, from Trichy and Deepak Nayak, 19, from Odisha. On Saturday, around 10am, when the duo were carrying iron rods, one of them came into contact with a low-hanging overhead electric cable. Both workers suffered severe electric shock and collapsed. Other workers who witnessed the incident rushed to their aid and took them to govt Stanley medical college hospital. However, doctors examined them and declared them dead. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. Police visited the spot, conducted preliminary inquiries, and registered a case. TNN
