Dhubri: Over 10 thousand devotees of the Islamic faith offered namaz at the historic Idgah Maidan here in Dhubri on Saturday morning.The Maidan, which came into existence prior to Independence, has long remained a major attraction for worshippers to gather and offer prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.Khorsed Khan, a resident of Ward No-6 in his 60s, said many people prefer the Idgah Maidan despite its limited space, as it can still accommodate nearly 10 thousand devotees.
“We had doubts about offering prayers here due to the inclement weather and overcast skies in this part of Assam, but thankfully we were able to pray without any hindrance,” Khorsed Khan said.During the congregation, the bayan (message) was delivered by Moulana Bahajuddin, while the namaz (prayer) was led by Abdur Rashid, Imam of Bahadurtary Jama Masjid.
