Kolkata: A cheating case has been registered after a jewellery trader alleged a woman posed as a customer, purchased gold ornaments and failed to pay the full amount after promising an online transfer.According to the complaint, the incident took place around 12.04 pm on March 18 at a jewellery shop on Hem Chandra Naskar Road in the Beleghata area. Police said the woman introduced herself as Mallika Dasgupta, claiming to be a resident of Kadapara near Kankurgachi. She allegedly persuaded the trader to sell her gold ornaments worth Rs 71,800 assuring that she would pay through NEFT. However, only Rs 10,000 was received, leaving an unpaid balance of Rs 61,800.
