Gangavathi (Koppal): Pro-Hindu activist Punit Kerehalli was stopped by police when he arrived for darshan at the historic Anjanadri Hill Saturday, eyewitnesses said, following restrictions imposed by the Koppal district administration.Acting on the deputy commissioner’s orders, police restrained Kerehalli from proceeding towards the hill and attempted to serve him a notice regarding the restriction. Kerehalli, however, insisted on seeing the original documents related to the restriction. Subsequently, he was escorted to Anjanadri Hill and allowed to have darshan of Lord Anjaneya, before being driven up to Hosapete under police protection, sources said. Terming the entire episode “unfortunate” and “condemnable”, Kerehalli alleged a system was being created “where even offering prayers to god is restricted”. The district administration has not issued any statements on the incident.
