Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has directed the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) to ensure budgetary allocation for providing basic civic amenities in Vrindavan Colony, observing that it is the statutory duty of the civic body to do so.A division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Amitabh Kumar Rai passed the order on a PIL filed in 2019 by the Vrindavan Jan Kalyan Samiti. The court has fixed April 20 as the next date of hearing and directed the municipal commissioner to file a personal affidavit explaining the delay in providing essential services to residents of the colony. The bench questioned why basic amenities have not been extended to the area despite the colony having been handed over to the LMC in 2018. It observed that under the municipal laws, it is the responsibility of the corporation to ensure provision of essential civic infrastructure.
