Bhagalpur: With a view to ensuring peaceful celebrations of Eid, Chaiti Durga Puja, Ram Navami and Chaiti Chhath, a meeting of the District Peace Committee (DPC) was held at the district collectorate on Friday. The meeting was chaired by district magistrate Nawal Kishor Chaudhary.A complete prohibition on playing DJs and raising provocative slogans or playing objectionable songs has been imposed. Directions were also issued to DPC members to monitor the activities of various festival committees.The DM said during the interactive session, DPC members shared feedback on arrangements for Eid, Chaiti Chhath, Ram Navami and Chaiti Durga Puja. They sought measures such as cleanliness at festival sites, spraying of bleaching powder and lime water, uninterrupted power supply, traffic management and strengthening of law and order arrangements.The DPC members assured the administration that they would make all efforts to ensure that the festivals are celebrated peacefully and in a spirit of social harmony, the DM said. He added that special arrangements are being made for Chaiti Chhath in view of low water levels in rivers and ponds.SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav said law enforcement agencies have been put on alert to maintain peace during the festivals. He added that motorcycle patrol teams have been deployed, and people are being requested not to use DJs in processions or programmes, and to refrain from raising provocative slogans or playing offensive songs.
