Pune: The Hadapsar police have detained four minor boys, all aged 17, and recovered sharp weapons from them near a nullah on the Hadapsar–Malwadi Road around 1.15am. The minors wanted to eliminate their rival.Police said the boys had plotted the murder of another minor, who has an extensive criminal record, owing to an old rivalry.The suspects, who are from Hadapsar and Theur, allegedly wanted to teach their rival a lesson after he had issued threats to them a few days ago.Senior inspector Sanjay Mogale of Hadapsar police told TOI, “The crime branch’s night patrolling team detained the minor boys. They were found sitting in the dark near the nullah.”“The four minors are school dropouts. A few days ago, their rival had threatened them over a trivial reason. The detained boys came together and decided to eliminate their rival. Crime branch officials nabbed them before they could execute their plan,” he said.“Their rival, also a 17-year-old, has cases of bodily offences registered against him,” he added.
