Coimbatore: The Kuniyamuthur police on Wednesday arrested four drug peddlers and seized 100kg of ganja from them.A police officer identified the arrested four as Nowfal, 53, of Aluva in Kerala; Abbas, 37, of Anbu Nagar near Ukkadam; Benny Jacob, 36, of Vellalore Housing Unit; and Roopan Marshal, 29, of Mettuthottam at Podanur . He said the gang was busted based on a specific tip that ganja was stored in a godown on Kuniyamuthur-Edayarpalayam Road. “A team of police led by sub-inspector Baskaran subsequently conducted a raid at the godown, where curry leaves are usually stored, in the early hours of the day and found 100kg of ganja.” The team seized the contraband and arrested the four, who were selling ganja to college students. “They were produced before a judicial magistrate and lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison under judicial custody in the evening. We have registered a case and further investigation is under way,” the officer said.
