Vadodara: The mines and minerals department in Dahod district seized nine dumpers carrying illegally mined sand near Devgadh Baria in one of the biggest such crackdowns in recent times.Acting on a tip-off, officials launched a checking drive on the Fangiya-Sagtala road on Wednesday morning and intercepted the vehicles. The drivers failed to produce valid documents for the sand they were transporting.Upon inspection, the vehicles were also found to be overloaded. All nine dumpers, along with the sand, were seized.The total value of the seized vehicles and sand is estimated at Rs 2.1 lakh. Officials said strict action against illegal sand mining will continue in the coming days.
