Kanpur: A man in Mahoba on Tuesday killed his wife by crushing her with a stone, left her body at home and fled, police said. The body was found inside the house in LodhiKheda of Bhandra village.The deceased was identified as Pawan (36). Police said the needle of suspicion was against her husband Ram Singh, who has been absconding since the incident. The body was taken into custody and sent for postmortem, and a search for the accused was initiated. On receiving information, Circle Officer Deepak Dubey reached the spot with a police team and inspected the crime scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that Ram Singh was addicted to alcohol and often beat his wife while intoxicated. According to the deceased’s cousin Rajendra, Pawan had been tortured by her husband and mother-in-law for a long time. He said she had gone to her maternal home in Uparetha village of Hamirpur with her three children, Pari (9), Aayush (4) and Peeyush (11). The accused brought her back only about a month ago.Other family members also expressed anger over Ram Singh’s behaviour. His brother Raju said he started living separately with his family, fed up with Ram Singh’s abusive language. Police registered a case under relevant sections based on the written complaint of the deceased’s father. The CO said.Raids are being conducted for the arrest of the accused. He will be apprehended soon, the CO added.
