Gurgaon: AIIMS has issued its first advertisement inviting applications for key administrative, technical and support roles at the facility coming up in Rewari’s Majra village. It is a key step towards starting outpatient department (OPD) services.Officials said more recruitment notifications will follow once pending clearances from the finance ministry are secured.The advertisement has been issued for the recruitment of six positions—medical officer, superintendent engineer, executive engineer (civil), executive engineer (electrical), senior accounts officer and administrative officer. There is one opening for each position.The Union health secretary has already sent a proposal for additional posts to the expenditure department. Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh said that he had spoken to Union health minister JP Nadda last week regarding the clearance of the recruitment file for Rewari AIIMS. “I would soon speak to the finance ministry and get the file cleared so that the posts can also be filled,” he said. The appointment of doctors is essential for starting OPD at AIIMS and necessary steps are being taken for it.The OPD services at the under-construction facility are expected to start from March or April and the medical classes are likely to start from the next academic session in June or July. Initially, AIIMS Rewari will have 50 MBBS seats, which will gradually increase to 100. The construction began before the 2024 parliamentary election and the project has a three-year deadline.AIIMS Director Dr D N Sharma said the construction of the 750-bed AIIMS at Majra village in Rewari is progressing at a fast pace. Being built at a cost of around Rs 1,700 crore over 210 acres, the institute will offer all facilities available at other AIIMS across the country.
