Varanasi: A 62-year-old woman was hacked to death by her drunkard son following dispute over food near Bhullanpur Panchayat building under Manduadih police station on Monday night.Manduadih police station in charge Ajay Raj Verma on Tuesday said Ghanshyam (26) had been arrested on charges of killing his mother, Shiela Devi (62), near Panchayat Bhawan of Bhullanpur area. The iron rod used in the murder was also recovered.During initial interrogation, Ghanshyam said he was seeking money from his mother to buy liquor and when she refused to give, he lost his cool and hit her on the head with an iron rod, killing her on the spot.
