Ajmer: The vice chancellor of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU) will now be designated as kulguru, following a decision taken at the 114th meeting of the university’s management board held Tuesday.Kulguru Prof Suresh Kumar Agarwal said the board discussed a 17-point agenda, including confirmation of Prof Subhash Chandra and Prof Arvind Pareek, and decided to send a revised roster for teacher recruitment to the state govt.The board also decided to prepare a list of encroached university land and submit it to the divisional commissioner for further action.Chaired by professor Agarwal, the meeting approved the interest rate for General Provident Fund for 2024-25 for teachers, officers and employees. It also resolved to send a proposal to the chancellor and Rajasthan governor to amend university statutes in line with changes in the University Act, 1987.The board approved minutes of the finance committee’s Jan 2026 meeting and cleared budget provisions for 2026-27. A provision of Rs 50 crore was made for the pension fund to ensure post-retirement benefits.It authorised the kulguru to constitute committees to boost student admissions, promote research, innovation and startups, and oversee implementation of Learning Management System and University Management System.The board also decided to convert Mathematics from a self-financed to a regular course and send a proposal to the state govt for purchase of a new vehicle. Guidelines issued by the governor’s secretariat regarding university funds were accepted.The notification replacing the designation of vice chancellor with kulguru was formally enforced.
