Patna: Construction of a multi-level parking facility has commenced at Takhat Sri Harimandirji Patna Sahib Gurdwara to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims visiting the shrine.The project is being built on two acres of land located opposite Kangan Ghat Gurdwara and was authorised following a budget allocation of Rs 100 crore by the state govt. The construction phase began on Tuesday after a prayer ceremony led by Jathedar Giani Baldev Singh and the Five Singh Sahiban.The development contract was awarded to an agency with a stipulated completion period of two years. The structure will consist of six levels and include space for approximately 500 cars and 50 heavy vehicles such as buses and trucks.The design also incorporates two floors of dormitory halls for accommodation of pilgrims, while the ground floor will house bathroom facilities.According to Takhat Sahib committee president Jagjot Singh Sohi, “This parking facility will provide immense relief to the Sangat (community). By integrating accommodation and direct transport links, we are ensuring a seamless experience for those travelling from afar.”Pilgrims arriving through Marine Drive will have direct access to the parking facility, from where battery-operated rickshaws will transport them to the Takht Sahib premises.The inauguration ceremony was attended by several committee officials, including general secretary Inderjeet Singh, senior vice president Lakhvinder Singh and vice president Gurvinder Singh, among others.
