Guwahati: The central committee of AIUDF on Tuesday suspended party vice-president and Mankachar MLA Aminul Islam for six years from party membership. AIUDF, in a release, said Islam’s activities have “repeatedly been deemed controversial and detrimental to the party’s interest.”AIUDF has also classified his activities as anti-party, at a time when reports are doing the rounds that he is likely to join BJP’s ally AGP.“It is also reported that he (Islam) is rendering support to an opposite political party and is all set to join that party,” read the suspension order.
