Pune: The Parvati police have arrested a motorcycle rider for allegedly assaulting a PMPML bus driver by hitting him on the head with a stone in the BRTS corridor on Pune–Satara Road near Laxminarayan theatre around 6pm on Saturday.The police arrested Mansoor Gafoor Shaikh (24) of Upper Indiranagar for assaulting PMPML bus driver Suresh Vitthal Gunthe (40) of Katraj.“Shaikh works as a casual labourer. He was riding in the BRTS corridor towards Swargate. After he overtook a PMPML bus in the corridor, another bus coming from the opposite direction towards Katraj from Swargate appeared in front of Shaikh,” senior inspector Rajendra Sahane of Parvati police told TOI.“Gunthe halted the bus suddenly, saving Shaikh. He then asked Shaikh to remove his bike from the corridor. An argument between them led Shaikh to hit Gunthe on the head with a stone. Gunthe later approached police, following which we arrested Shaikh,” he said.
