The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released its first list of candidates for 144 seats for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, fielding senior leader Suvendu Adhikari from two constituencies — Bhabanipur and Nandigram.
Adhikari’s candidature from Bhabanipur sets the stage for a likely face-off with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who currently represents the seat.
The party has also fielded Dilip Ghosh from Kharagpur Sadar as part of its first list of candidates.
