Araria: Police recovered 1.5kg of brown sugar, estimated to be worth more than Rs20 lakh in the international market, and arrested a smuggler in Araria on Sunday. Officials said the accused was intercepted while he was transporting the contraband through the district. Investigators suspect the consignment to be part of a wider interstate trafficking chain using the Seemanchal belt of north-eastern Bihar as a transit route. Araria SP Jitendra Kumar said the personnel involved in the operation would be rewarded for the successful seizure of the drugs.
