Thiruvananthapuram: Karamana police arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly assaulting his mother and brother after they objected to him drinking alcohol with friends in the house. The arrested person is Jayakumar of Kizhakkevila in Pappanamcode.According to police, the incident occurred after Jayakumar’s mother Girijakumari and brother Vijayakumar questioned his habit of regularly consuming alcohol with friends at their home. Jayakumar brutally beat them during the altercation. Police said the victims sustained injuries and a complaint was subsequently lodged with the Karamana police station. Police soon took the accused into custody. According to police, the mother is undergoing treatment at medical college hospital. Police said further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the assault. The accused was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
