Pune: The dean of Sassoon General Hospital, Dr Eknath Pawar, has written a letter to the district collector’s office seeking undisrupted LPG supply to the facility. The letter requested collector Jitendra Dudi to issue a directive to gas agencies to deliver cylinders to the hospital on priority. “While there is no LPG shortage at present, we have written to the collector to ensure smooth supply of cylinders given the ongoing crisis. In addition to the cylinders currently in use, we have a reserve stock of approximately 20 cylinders,” said Dr Pawar.“As of now, the hospital’s cooking operations have not been impacted in any way. We generally prepare meals for around 1,200 people per day and therefore, it is essential that the gas supply remains uninterrupted. The letter was sent to the district collector for this reason.”Dr Rajesh Karyakarte, the head of the microbiology department of the hospital, and other administrative officials inspected the facility’s kitchen on Friday morning. The team reviewed the stock of gas cylinders and cooking arrangements. They found the kitchen functioning smoothly at this point of time.Primarily LPG cylinders are used for cooking in Sassoon General Hospital. The hospital administration stated that precautions had been taken to ensure the health hub’s kitchen remained operational without interruption and patients as well as their relatives received meals on time.
