Noida: A case of alleged assault involving two doctors has surfaced at the Child PGI Hospital in Sector 30, after a senior woman physician accused her junior colleague of physically assaulting her during duty hours. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, an officer said.According to the complaint filed at the Sector 20 police station, the victim, Dr Shivangi Raj Jaiswal, alleged that the incident occurred around 2am on Friday. She claimed an argument broke out between her and junior doctor Dr Aditya Verma over an unspecified issue, which soon escalated into violence.Allegedly, Verma lost his temper and slapped her repeatedly during the dispute. The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras, which police are now examining as part of the investigation.The complainant further said that besides physically assaulting her, the accused also used abusive language and issued death threats during the altercation. She said the incident caused her not only physical injuries but also significant mental trauma. Jaiswal has demanded strict legal action against the accused.An officer confirmed that an FIR was registered under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS, and that statements from both parties are being recorded. “We began the investigation and are verifying the allegations with the help of CCTV footage and other evidence. Necessary legal action will be taken after the inquiry is completed,” he said.The hospital has also set up a panel for an independent inquiry into the incident. “The incident occurred when both doctors were on night duty in the emergency ward of the hospital. While the senior doctor has been posted here for a long time, the junior doctor joined only a few months ago. An internal investigation team has been constituted at the hospital, and CCTV footage is being reviewed. Staff members who were present at the time of the incident, as well as colleagues of both doctors, are being questioned. A report will be prepared soon, after which further action will be decided,” said A.K. Singh, the director of the hospital.The incident has sparked concern among hospital staff, with several doctors expressing shock over the alleged assault taking place within a healthcare facility.
