Mumbai: Western Railway will undertake a major block at Prabhadevi station early Sunday to facilitate the de-launching of girders of the Prabhadevi Road Over Bridge (ROB), affecting suburban train operations for several hours during the intervening night of March 14 and March 15.The traffic and power block on all lines at Prabhadevi will be carried out from 1.30 am to 6 am, Western Railway officials said. The work involves the removal and repositioning of steel girders above the railway tracks, a critical stage in the construction of the road overbridge aimed at easing road connectivity in the busy central Mumbai corridor.According to Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, suburban train services will not run between Churchgate and Prabhadevi, and stations such as Matunga Road and Mahim will remain without services during the block period. Some suburban trains will also be cancelled, short-terminated, or reversed from Dadar and Bandra.Officials said a total of 45 suburban services will be cancelled due to the combined impact of the jumbo block and the girder de-launching work.Services will resume early morning, with the first suburban train departing Churchgate at 5.52 am on the fast line and at 5.59 am on the slow line. Thereafter, locals will run as per schedule on all lines. The block will also affect some long-distance services. Train No 09184 Varanasi–Mumbai Central will be regulated by 2 hours, while 22946 Okha–Mumbai Central will be delayed by 1 hour 45 minutes. Trains 12928 Ekta Nagar–Dadar and 12902 Ahmedabad–Dadar will be regulated by 1 hour each, and 09052 Bhusaval–Dadar by 45 minutes.Train 22953 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad, scheduled to depart at 5.40 am on March 15, will instead leave 30 minutes later at 6.10 am.
