Varanasi: The three-day international conference on seismic resilient infrastructure organised by the department of civil engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), in association with the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology, Varanasi chapter, began on Friday. Delivering the inaugural address, IIT-BHU director Amit Patra spoke about the crucial role of research institutions in addressing infrastructure challenges posed by earthquakes.R Pradeep Kumar, director of the CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee, underlined the importance of integrating advanced research, and modern technologies to improve the seismic resilience of infrastructure, particularly in earthquake-prone regions.
