Gandhinagar: Minister of state for water resources, Ishwarsinh Patel, said in the assembly on Friday that water from canals under water resources dept will continue to be available for irrigation until April 30.The minister said that the 2025 monsoon ended later than usual, and unseasonal rain led to the failure of the kharif crop on a large scale. “Due to the extended monsoon, the sowing for the rabi season was delayed, which may also delay the harvest of the rabi crops this year. Typically, water for irrigation from canals under water resources is provided until the end of Feb for the rabi season,” the minister said. He added that representations from farmers for an extension of water for irrigation were discussed at the state govt level, after which the decision was taken to provide irrigation water until April 30.
