Jamshedpur: A truck carrying LPG cylinders overturned at Lumpungdih village in Seraikela-Kharsawan district early on Friday.Villagers from the surrounding area rushed to the site and rescued the driver who got stuck after the truck turned turtle. Preliminary probe suggests the driver dozed off, causing the vehicle to overturn and roll over into the field, scattering the cylinders. The driver sustained minor injuries. After getting information, a PCR van and a team from Nimdih police station rushed to the site. Police immediately cordoned off the area and prohibited the crowd from going close to the cylinders due to concerns over explosion and fire. Besides, police were also apprehensive about the possibility of looting of cylinders by those at the spot. Police seized the truck and cylinders and cleared the crowd.“Scattered cylinders were collected and organised properly for transportation. Another truck of the company is arriving to ferry the cylinders. Police forces were deployed at the site,” said Nimdih police station officer-in-charge, Santan Tiwary.
