Surat: The Surat unit of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a milk auditor and his accomplice for allegedly taking a Rs 15,000 bribe from a milk cooperative in Tapi village. The accused allegedly asked for the bribe in exchange for submitting the final audit report. The accused are Dharmesh Vasava, auditor Grade 2 (milk), posted under the special auditor, Milk Audit Office, Surat, and his aide, Jetal Gamit. Vasava, a Class 3 officer entrusted with responsibility of Songadh district, draws a monthly salary of Rs 55,400 from the govt.According to ACB officials, Gamit accepted the bribe on a public road in Unchamal village near Vyara after consulting Vasava. ACB inspector K J Dhaduk and his team caught Gamit red-handed, and Vasava was arrested subsequently.ACB assistant director R R Chaudhary said the audit report was already prepared without discrepancies and the accused allegedly sought the bribe before handing it over to the village cooperative.
