Jind: Jind police on Thursday registered a cheating case against four professors of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU).
Police filed the the FIR against Jasveer Singh, Anupam Bhatia, Bhavna and Sunita under sections 318(4), 336(3), 338, 340 and 351(3) of BNS for allegedly manipulating students’ marks. The case was registered on the basis of an inquiry report submitted by the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Jind.
A student named Richa Bhandari stated in her complaint that serious irregularities were committed in internal marks of first-semester students of MFA second year. Students with low attendance and little participation in class activities were awarded higher marks, while those who regularly attended classes and actively participated in activities were given fewer marks than expected.
According to the complaint, certain officials and employees allegedly change marks in exchange for money. When the concerned teachers were asked about the matter, they reportedly clarified that the original marks given by them were altered later.
It was also alleged that the wife of a teacher, Gurinder, who was also an MFA student at the same university, was awarded higher marks, indicating favouritism and unfair evaluation.
Bhandari submitted evidence showing how the actual marks of some students were reduced while others were increased. In her statement, she said that some officials and employees, in collusion with certain students, were manipulating examination results for a long time.
Jind Sadar police station SHO Manish Kumar confirmed the FIR.
