Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out late on Thursday night at a furniture showroom in Chandanagar, destroying furniture across multiple floors and causing significant property loss.According to police, the complainant, Suresh, had been working as the HR manager at the showroom for the past five years. He locked the shop and left for home at around 9 pm on Thursday after completing his duties. At around 11.30 pm, the security guard informed him over the phone that smoke and flames were emanating from the building. The manager immediately rushed to the spot and alerted the fire department through the toll-free number.By the time he reached the location, fire department personnel had already arrived and were attempting to control the flames. Three fire engines were pressed into service, and firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.Police said the fire engulfed the G+4 building, burning large quantities of furniture, including beds, mattresses, chairs and other items in the showroom. The value of the damaged furniture was estimated at around 75 lakh.Officials said the building was equipped with fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. However, when the fire broke out at around 11.30 pm, the power supply was disrupted and the equipment could not be located immediately, preventing its use in the initial stage of the incident.A preliminary investigation suggested that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. As no staff were inside the showroom at the time of the incident, no casualties were reported.Police registered a case based on the complaint, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are also verifying whether all mandatory fire safety measures were in place at the establishment.
