New Delhi: A Delhi Police constable and his associate have been arrested for allegedly running a racket that generated fake police clearance certificates (PCCs). The operation surfaced during a probe into drug trafficking in southeast Delhi. The accused have been identified as constable Arun, posted at Shaheen Bagh police station, and Tushar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Arun, originally from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, joined the force in 2017 on compassionate grounds after his father’s service. According to senior officers, the two had allegedly been producing fake PCCs for several months. A search of their rented accommodation in the Sunlight Colony area led to the recovery of numerous forged documents, stamps purportedly belonging to SHOs of Delhi Police and Ghaziabad Police, and other officials. Police also seized a fake Delhi Police identity card in Tushar’s name and multiple fabricated PCCs. The racket came to light after the district narcotics unit arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Ashish, and recovered around 18g of MDMA from him. During questioning, Ashish revealed information that led investigators to his rented house in Sunlight Colony. When police raided the premises, they found Arun and Tushar present. It later emerged that the two had been living in the house for about six months, paying a monthly rent of Rs 35,000. Investigators said evidence suggested they had issued fake PCCs to several people. Police sources said the duo could prepare forged certificates within hours. Official PCCs in Delhi are issued online by the Special Branch and typically take 10–15 days to process. The accused allegedly used forged SHO stamps to create the fake documents.
