Kanpur: In a meeting held on Thursday, the representatives of petroleum companies told district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh that the district has adequate stock of domestic LPG cylinders.They said that there were 11,44,075 active LPG consumers and approximately 11,000 commercial gas connections in the district. The representatives claimed the distribution system was being continuously monitored. They said hospitals and educational institutions would be given priority supply and once the supply chain improved, cylinders would also be made available to all other commercial connection holders. They also assured of adequate fuel stock at all petrol pumps. The DM directed gas companies to supply cylinders on a first-in, first-out basis. Singh appealed to citizens not to pay attention to rumours spreading about gas shortage and instructed officials to keep constant monitoring on the supply system to avoid any inconvenience to consumers.He also directed all sub-district magistrates to maintain strict vigilance against the black marketing of domestic gas cylinders and take stern action agaisnt anyone found involved in such acts.
