Kanpur: Five minors sustained severe burns after a man allegedly threw boiling oil on them following a minor dispute during a Terahvin ceremony in Unnao district on Wednesday, police said.Police are investigating the matter.During a post death ritual of senior citizen on Tuesday a man poured boiling oil on five minor boys in a dispute over splashing water on each other. All the boys were severely burned and were admitted to a hospital in Lucknow.Hiralal, 100, a resident of Majra Drigpal Kheda village under Hasanpur, had died a natural death and his terahvin ceremony was held on Tuesday. While villagers were having food, one Vishal splashed water on 14-year-old Sudhir, his 11-year-old brother Raunak, sons of Krishnapal, 14-year-old Sumit, his 10-year-old brother Shyam Babu, sons of Vishunpal, and 12-year-old Manoj, son of Ram Khelawan, who were present there. Angered, all of them splashed water back on Vishal.In a fit of rage, Vishal threw hot oil on all five minors causing severe burns. With the help of the village head and locals, family took them all to Civil Hospital in Lucknow.The accused claimed that it was an accident and fled from the spot. Station house officer Sanjeev Kushwaha said that based on the written complaint of the family members of the burn victims, Sudhir (14), Raunak (11), Sumit (14), Shyam Babu (10), and Manoj (12), a case has been registered against Vishal Yadav, and efforts are being made to take him into custody.
