Mangaluru: Additional district and sessions FTSC-II (Pocso) judge Maanu KS Thursday sentenced Aboobakkar, 53, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a Pocso case.He was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor girl in his neighbourhood on March 29, 2025, and threatening her against disclosing the incident. A complaint was later registered at Bantwal Rural police station.A case was booked under sections 351(2) and 64(1) of BNS, and Section 6 of the Pocso Act. Inspector Shivakumar B, who investigated the case, submitted the chargesheet.The court also fined Aboobakkar Rs 45,000 under Section 64(1) of BNS and Section 6 of Pocso Act. Under Section 351(2) of BNS, he received three months’ simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000.The court directed District Legal Services Authority to pay R 3.5 lakh in compensation to the victim and to hand over the Rs 50,000 fine amount as well.Special public Prosecutor Sahana Devi Boloor appeared for the prosecution.
