Kolkata: BJP central leadership met Bengal BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya and state leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari at JP Nadda’s residence in Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the results of the party’s ‘Poriborton Yatra’ and general poll preparedness. Sources said BJP seniors took up preliminary reviews for candidates for the 294 assembly constituencies.The meeting comes days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s March 14 rally at the Brigade Parade Grounds in Kolkata. Political analysts are of the opinion that the Bengal election schedule may be announced soon after the PM’s visit.In Kolkata, preparations are on at the venue under the supervision of BJP state vice-president Raju Banerjee. Banerjee said the party expects attendees from across the state.Banerjee further alleged that there was a collapse of law and order in the state and welcomed the appointment of former intelligence bureau chief RN Ravi as Bengal’s new governor.Responding to chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s criticisms regarding LPG price increase, BJP questioned why the state govt was not waiving taxes on fuel. Khan said: “BJP does not hesitate to disrespect world-renowned figures whose images were drawn by school students. Howrah BJP’s lawyer cell convenor Omprakash Singh said, “These accusations are being made to tarnish BJP’s image ahead of polls.”
