Chennai: A head constable was run over when he tried to stop a 19-year-old motorist around midnight on Tuesday. The motorist was drunk and the constable sustained serious injuries. Police said the head constable from Koyambedu station, Dhanasekara Pandian, was conducting a vehicle check in the Koyambedu market area . The motorist, Charan Kumar, of Chinmaya Nagar, Koyambedu, did not stop and ran over Dhanasekara Pandian. Fellow constables caught the rider, and he was taken to the police station. Dhanasekara Pandian was admitted to a private hospital, later shifted to Kilpauk Government Medical College Hospital.
