Nagpur: Four workers suffered minor burn injuries after hot steam allegedly leaked from a pipeline at the Koradi Thermal Power Plant, located around 15km from Nagpur, on Wednesday.According to sources, the incident occurred while maintenance work was underway in the turbine section of a 660MW unit at the plant operated by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MahaGenco). A pipeline carrying high-temperature steam reportedly developed a leak, releasing a large amount of steam in the area.The workers who were carrying out maintenance work nearby came in contact with steam, leaving four employees — Ravindra Nandurkar (50), Vishal Kamble (40), Rahul Kelkar (35), and Shailesh Meshram (35) — with minor burns on their hands and legs. The injured workers were immediately rushed to the primary health centre in Koradi colony for treatment. Sources said two of the injured were discharged after receiving primary treatment.Senior officials and safety personnel of the power plant rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported. As a precautionary measure, work in the concerned section was halted temporarily.Sources said an inquiry was initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the steam leak. Technical teams are examining the pipeline and related systems.The Koradi Thermal Power Plant is one of the key electricity generation centres in the Vidarbha region. With multiple units of varying capacities, the plant has a total generation capacity exceeding 2,000MW and plays a crucial role in supplying electricity to industrial, agricultural, and urban areas in the region. Regular maintenance and safety inspections are carried out at the facility to ensure uninterrupted operations.
