Vadodara: At least 29 passengers were injured after a speeding bus veered off the highway when its tyre burst near Dahod in the early hours of Wednesday. The bus was travelling to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh when the accident occurred on the Ahmedabad–Indore National Highway.The bus had started its journey from Morbi and was carrying several passengers when the incident took place near Rabdal village, close to Dahod town. The highway runs through hilly terrain at the location, with the road elevated and land sloping on one side.According to officials, the tyre burst caused the driver to lose control, after which the bus swerved off the highway and slid down the slope for a considerable distance.Commuters and residents of nearby villages rushed to the spot and began rescuing passengers from the bus. Locals alerted the police and the 108 Emergency Service, following which teams of police and personnel from the Dahod Fire Brigade reached the site to carry out rescue operations.The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Sources said most passengers suffered minor injuries and were discharged after first aid. No serious injuries were reported. The bus was later lifted back onto the road with the help of a crane.
