Vadodara: IAS officer and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd managing director Shalini Agrawal took charge as the administrator of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Wednesday. She was appointed earlier this month ahead of the end of the term of the civic body’s elected wing.Agrawal arrived at the VMC office on Wednesday evening and assumed charge in the mayor’s chamber. She earlier served as the VMC commissioner before being transferred as the Surat municipal commissioner. She has also worked as the Vadodara district collector. As administrator, Agrawal holds the powers of the standing committee and the general board, both of which are ordinarily run by elected representatives. The term of these representatives ended on Monday, making the appointment of an administrator necessary until civic elections are held.
