Madikeri: Pepper production in Kodagu district is likely to increase by 16% in 2025-26, said Union minister of state for commerce and industry Jitin Prasad.Following a question by Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar about the status of pepper production in Kodagu, the impact of exports, support to farmers and revision of the minimum import price, the minister said that pepper production increased in Kodagu in 2025-26 compared to the previous year.India’s pepper exports increased by 14.7%, and the SPICED project is supporting pepper growers with equipment, training and market linkages, the minister replied. He informed that a minimum import price of Rs 500 per kg is in force for the import of black pepper to protect domestic farmers.
