Surat: The body of a 57-year-old woman was found near Kosad Awas in the Amroli police station jurisdiction on Wednesday morning.The discovery was made after an SMC sanitation worker noticed a stinking bag on the roadside while cleaning and alerted the police. After the incident, detection of crime branch (DCB) police detained a couple of suspects and began an inquiry alongside Amroli police. The victim, Hamida Khatun, lived with her two sons in the H-2 block of Kosad. Her son, Pravekh Alam, 24, had filed a missing person’s complaint stating that Khatun left for the market on Tuesday morning and did not return. While police were tracing her, the bag with the body was found. The clothes matched the description given in the missing person’s complaint. Amroli police filed a murder case and began an investigation. DCB officers reached the spot and identified suspects from CCTV footage of the area. According to DCB sources, the case may be linked to a family feud, and officers are probing whether any family member was involved. Khatun was from Samastipur district in Bihar, and her family had moved to Surat for work.
