Hyderabad: Punjagutta police registered a cheating case against an overseas employment consultant after a woman alleged that she was duped of Rs 5 lakh by the accused who promised to secure a job for her husband in Ireland.The victim, Habeebunnisa from Charminar area, approached the police on March 10. In her complaint, the victim alleged that she approached G Naresh, who ran a job consultancy at Ameerpet in 2025, seeking overseas employment for her husband.Police said Naresh assured her that he would arrange a job in Ireland after completing visa formalities. Trusting his assurances, the complainant transferred Rs 5 lakh in two instalments in June and July 2025, to the bank account of the accused.The complainant alleged that even after six months of paying the money, the accused was yet to provide any job opportunities in Ireland. “Neither did he submit any visa documents nor did he show any proof of processing the same,” the woman said in her complaint, alleging that the accused went incommunicado after she asked him for a refund. The woman alleged severe financial loss and distress in her complaint.Based on the complaint, Punjagutta police registered a case under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the BNS against Naresh.
