Bengaluru: Digital healthcare platform Practo announced the appointment of former Union Health Secretary C.K. Mishra to its Board of Directors as an independent director.
A retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with 37 years of public service, Mishra served as Secretary at the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and retired in 2020 after holding senior roles across health, environment, education, industry and power sectors.
During his tenure as health secretary, Mishra oversaw several national health programmes and helped manage large-scale public health systems, bringing extensive experience in governance and infrastructure development at scale.
The company said his appointment comes as it continues to strengthen institutional leadership while expanding its technology-led healthcare platform.
Mishra joins an expanded board that also includes TVG Krishnamurthy, a veteran global enterprise advisor, and Alexander Kuruvilla, a healthcare administrator.
Commenting on the development, Mishra said digital platforms that organise healthcare data and support informed decision-making can play a key role in improving access and outcomes.
“Healthcare systems today require transparency, structured information and accountability at scale. Platforms that connect patients, providers and payors can significantly strengthen healthcare delivery,” he said.
Shashank ND, founder and CEO of Practo, said Mishra’s experience in building and governing large-scale systems would help the company further strengthen its platform.
He added that Practo aims to build foundational digital infrastructure that enables transparency and informed choices in healthcare.
The development comes as the company expands its presence in international markets, including the United States and the UAE, while strengthening its technology and product leadership teams.
