Gurgaon: Several schools received bomb threat e-mails from a foreign server on Tuesday, triggering mass evacuation and intensive security checks by bomb disposal squads and canine units. All threats were found to be hoaxes, an officer said.According to police, all bomb threats were sent by “Giang Do”. The schools alerted the police and teams were dispatched to the campuses for combing operations. A threat e-mail was also sent to chief minister Nayab Singh Saini seeking his support for the Khalistan referendum. Senior politicians of the country were also mentioned in these e-mails.The e-mails allegedly warned of blasts at the schools at 1.11pm as well as in several trains at 3.11pm. “Teams from the concerned police stations, along with canine squads, bomb disposal squad and other specialised units, were rushed to the locations. Officials conducted a detailed inspection of classrooms, buildings, school premises and nearby areas. No suspicious object or explosive material was found during the searches so far,” police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said. Cyber experts were roped in to trace the origin of the messages and identify the sender.Various police teams are investigating the entire matter and verifying the authenticity of the e-mails and their source, Sandeep said, adding the law and order situation remains fully under control. In addition, he urged the public not to panic or spread rumours.
