Gurgaon: The Haryana sports department has released Rs 12.72 crore for 74,884 players training in sports nurseries across the state for the 2025–26 session. The funds have been allocated to all 22 districts to cover the nutrition allowance for July, Aug and Sept. According to official data, allocations were made based on the number of nursery players enrolled in each district. In Gurgaon, 2,124 players will receive around Rs 37.56 lakh, while Faridabad has been allocated nearly Rs 16.68 lakh for 951 players. Nuh district was sanctioned about Rs 41.27 lakh for 2,385 nursery players. The amount is being transferred to players after district authorities verify their details and bank accounts through the unique ID system maintained for sports nursery participants. The sports nurseries are part of the state government’s initiative to nurture young sporting talent at the grassroots level by providing structured training and financial support at govt-approved centres. Under the scheme, players in the 8–14 years age group receive Rs 1,500 per month, while those aged 14–19 years are given Rs 2,000 per month as a nutrition allowance to support their training and dietary needs. Arti Solanki, district sports officer, said, “The process of transferring funds has already begun and several athletes received the amount in their respective bank accounts. A few players are facing minor bank-related issues, but their payments are expected to be cleared within the next 2 to 3 days after verification. The department directed officials to ensure that all eligible players receive the allowance without unnecessary delay.” Data shows that Hisar has the highest number of sports nursery players in the state. Districts such as Kaithal, Jind, Rohtak and Panipat also have a significant number of participants enrolled under the programme. “I directed the senior officials of the department that no payment of coaches and athletes of nurseries should remain pending. We are working for the Good Governance in Sports and to ensure the Zero pendency in direct services of our athletes,” said Gaurav Gautam, sports minister, Haryana. Officials said the current release covers three months of the session, and further instalments will be issued as per schedule after verification procedures are completed.
