Kolkata: Trinamool on Tuesday criticized Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini for drawing parallels for Bengal with the British Raj and alleged that the same govt in Haryana had tried to “trample farmers’ movement” and rammed cars into protesting farmers.“Do we really need neats from Haryana who tried to trample farmers’ movement in the state to give sermons here? Will the people of India ever forget the incident where a convoy of cars rammed into protesting farmers and killed four of them?” said Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh.Alleging that the BJP is oblivious to the history of India, Ghosh said, “had he known the history of Bengal during the freedom struggle, Saini wouldn’t have tried to mention anything.”“BJP’s ideologues had connived with the British and we cannot expect the leaders to comment on anything else. The more they make such comments, the further they will be driven from the people. I am sure people of Bengal will not see these tourists after the election is over,” Ghosh added.Trinamool netas on Tuesday said that Saini’s comments were an attempt to deflect from his own govt’s challenges in Haryana. They maintained that the state govt is rooted in democratic values of “Ma Mati Manush” while contrasting this with “BJP’s authoritarian approach”.Trinamool’s Jay Prakash Majumdar said BJP netas are behaving more like the British who tortured people to pay tax for indigo cultivation. “He should have read the report of National Crime Records Bureau to know that BJP ruled states occupy the top three positions in terms of crimes. Haryana has one of the highest crimes against women. He should think about making his state safe for the people. Such statements will lead BJP to lose their existence in Bengal,” Majumdar said.
