Vadodara: The special operations group (SOG) of Panchmahal district police seized ambergris worth Rs 76.8 lakh and arrested a man in connection with the case, officials said.SOG officials, who have been monitoring the illegal trade in body parts and products of protected wildlife species, received information that Suresh Bariya was trying to sell ambergris.Bariya, a resident of Dholi village near Godhra, was stopped on Bamroli Road while riding a scooter. Police recovered 768g of what they believe to be ambergris in the scooter’s under-seat compartment.The accused admitted that he was attempting to sell the substance in Godhra. He told police that he had got it from Vadodara and was to receive a commission for the sale.
