Mysuru: Police on Monday apprehended an absconding juvenile suspect in connection with the March 7 murder at a private residential school here, where a student allegedly attacked and killed one of his classmates during an altercation.While D Hemanth died, seven other students, including a girl, and the hostel warden sustained injuries in the late-night incident when the suspect reportedly went on a rampage with an iron rod. The suspect and the other students were all from class 9.After an extensive search, Ballari rural police traced the accused juvenile boy near a private layout in Ballari and took him into custody within 36 hours of the crime. Police said the boy was subjected to a medical examination late Monday evening and would be produced before the district judge on Tuesday.Police said CCTV footage provided crucial leads that helped them track down the suspect. Cops are still trying to figure out the trigger for such a violent attack.Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has registered a suo motu case in connection with the crime. The commission has asked the district administration to furnish details of action taken and relief measures provided to the injured students.In addition, the state education department will conduct a separate probe into the incident.
