BENGALURU: Bengaluru East City Corporation has the lowest number of voters among all the 5 city corporations, with only 10,41,396 voters, making it the lowest. East Corporation also has the fewest wards, with 50 wards and 919 polling stations.Only 1,117 new voters were added in the second draft voters list released by the Greater Bengaluru Authority on Monday. Currently, 88.9 lakh voters are marked in the GBA draft voter list.The first draft voters list was released on January 18, with 88,91,411 voters. After a window to file objections between January 20 and February 3, the second draft voters list had 88,92,528 voters.However, 20 polling stations were reduced in the second draft voters list. In the first draft voters list, there were around 8,044 polling stations, and currently there are around 8,024 polling stations. People are now given around 6 days to file objections and suggestions between March 10 and March 16.Currently, there are 45,69,752 men, 43,21,143 women, and 1,633 other voters. In the first draft voters list, there were 45,69,193 men, 43,20,583 women voters, and 1,635 other voters. According to these numbers, in the second draft, the number of women went up compared to men and other voters.While GBA was asked multiple times about how many objections and suggestions they received during the window, GBA election officials failed to answer. However, Maheswar Rao, Chief Commissioner, GBA, told TOI that the objections received were less than 0.5 percent. “The suggestions were mostly from the political parties, and we considered all the objections. This increase is basically those which were missed out to be added from the state election commission list. We also made mistakes, like missing out names, which we added.”Subramanyapura ward of Bengaluru South City Corporation has the highest number of voters among the 369 wards in the city. Ward 51 (Subramanyapura) has a total of 54,026 voters.Bengaluru East City Corporation’s Kotthur has the least number of voters, at 10,940.
