Ahmedabad: In the ongoing Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) exams, the Class 10 standard mathematics paper conducted on Monday was considered moderately difficult by students and teachers. Several questions were asked with a twist, which caused confusion among many students during the exam.According to feedback received from teachers, the paper was described as moderate to difficult. Some of the one-mark questions in Section A were framed in a slightly twisted manner, which made students pause and think before answering. Due to such questions and the presence of lengthy calculations, many students reportedly found it difficult to complete the paper within the three-hour time limit. However, subject experts noted that the paper largely followed the board’s prescribed blueprint. The five-mark questions in Section A were designed to test students’ analytical and thinking abilities. In Sections B, C and D, most questions — except one from the polynomial chapter — were asked directly from the textbook without changing the numerical values, although a few questions involved lengthy calculations.Teachers said that well-prepared students were likely to score full marks, while average students might secure around 65 to 70 marks. Even students with limited preparation could expect to score between 40 and 50 marks.Meanwhile, in the Class 12 Science stream, mathematics paper for Group A students was considered comparatively easy. Most of the questions were asked directly from the textbook, although a few MCQs had slightly modified numerical values. Some questions in Part B were also similar to those asked in previous exams. However, average students felt that the paper was somewhat lengthy. In the Class 12 general stream, the statistics paper was described as very easy. Subject expert Chirag Bhavsar said that all questions were from the textbook and none were taken from external publications. He added that many students could easily score around 90 marks, and the number of students scoring a perfect 100 was likely to increase this year.
