Varanasi: Ganga that flows northward to touch the feet of Lord Vishwanath in Kashi will now be worshipped at the doorstep of the deity’s courtyard daily in the evening.Kashi Vishwanath temple, which launched Ganga Aarti at Namo Ghat on the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sep 17, 2025, is all set to begin, from first day of Chaitra Navratra on Mar 19, Ganga Aarti every evening at Lalita Ghat, from where KV Dham is accessed directly through Ganga and Bhairav Dwars .“From Chaitra Navratra, considered beginning of new Hindu calendar year, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust will hold daily evening Ganga Aarti,” said temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, mentioning that the trust was already organising Ganga Aarti at Namo Ghat.More significant is venue of the proposed Ganga Aarti, said the CEO, as Lalita Ghat is named after one of the nine forms of Goddess Durga, reflecting the form of Tripurasundari, the supreme goddess in Tantra Sadhana. The ghat enables devotees to access KV Dham’s Ganga Dwar and Bhairav Dwar. The well-choreographed daily evening Aarti will be performed on the lines of daily Ganga Aartis at Dashaswamedh, Sheetla (old Dashaswamedh), Assi and Namo Ghats, with seven Acharyas (senior priests) performing all rituals daily, said the CEO, expressing hope that this aarti would help in reducing the crowd load from the daily Ganga Aartis of Dashaswamedh Ghat.Namo Ghat was developed courtesy Modi, and apart from offering a different look from other ghats of Kashi, it has multiple facilities, due to which it emerged as a major site for locals as well as tourists.Daily Ganga Aartis emerged as a major attraction for devotees from across the globe in past three decades. Ganga Aartis of both Dashaswamedh Ghats witness maximum crowding. As these ghats are also prime bathing ghats, they remain crowded, while during evening Ganga Aartis, not only do the ghats become overcrowded, but finding a space to reach close to these ghats for watching the mesmerising ritual from close became a difficult task.Due to same reason, when Ganga Aarti was started at Assi and Namo Ghats in recent years, they started pulling a big crowd. But even after that, thousands remain deprived of feeling the spirituality and beauty of Ganga Aartis of Kashi Ghats.
