Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hamid Karra on Monday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, alleging that the country’s image has been tarnished on the global stage. He demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation over the handling of external affairs.
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Congress chief Karra drew a contrast between India’s historical global standing and its current position. “The one who destroyed the truth is that India, which has Gandhiji’s statue in 100 out of 165 countries. We were the champions of the Non-Aligned Movement,” he said.
The Congress leader expressed concern over what he described as the nation’s diminishing respect abroad. “Today, our entire India, our entire world, is being humiliated. We are being demeaned all over the world. Such memes are being made against the Prime Minister that make us feel ashamed,” Karra stated.
Clarifying his political distance from the ruling party, he added, “Despite the fact that we don’t belong to that party or that ideology, the Prime Minister’s arrogance has made us lose a lot.
This is a shame for the whole country, for the whole of India.”
Karra specifically criticised the government’s approach to the United States, alleging a policy of capitulation. “He surrendered in front of the US? Yes, he surrendered, which is why this happened. And we demand that Modi ji resign,” he asserted.
Questioning the government’s response to the welfare of citizens overseas, he asked, “The students stranded there, did the embassy go to them? What do you want? Did the embassy go to Iran?”
Highlighting the recent advisory for Indian nationals, Karra noted the severity of the international situation. “Today, a country like America, which considered itself the leader of the world, has told its citizens that we cannot evacuate you from there. We cannot evacuate you. You have to find a way out for yourselves,” he added. (KNS).
